Vn steering wheel nut threaded striped

Hi I had a good search but couldn't find anything
Ok my vn has a sports wheel and it's not straight
And I went to take it off and the threads stripped
So the nut now I don't no wat to do
Any ideas cheap fixes would be gr8 or do I need a whole
New steering column

The shaft will pull out of the steering knuckle - but it's very tight.

When pulling a wheel off my VN some years ago I had to hit from behind with a hammer as it just would not let go. In the end asked a mechaninc what to so as I did not whish to smash anything. He was brutal in his attack on the wheel and go it off in about 30 seconds. (I'd been at it for an hour). After this I noticed it did not fit back on properly and the horn failed to work. The shaft had half come out and was not sitting into the coloum properly. Tapped it back down and all was good.

So you can just replace the top half of the shaft with a good unit. But you may have to replace the complete unit tho - Wreckers are your freind
