Interested in experiences of others regarding Falken FK452, Michelin Pilot Sport 2 & Pilot Sport 3 and Goodyear F1 Asymmetric. Wheels tyre test in 2009 has Falken the equal of the Goodyear, which is suprising as Goodyear costs twice as much. Everyone raves about the Michelin PS2 & now there is a new & improved PS3, that is halve the price of the PS2.
Falken & Michelin PS3 are $250 and waiting for quote on price of Goodyear but they were around $350. Would need a lot of convincing to buy Goodyear unless the price has come down dramatically or their performace is significantly better than the other two.
I got 4 new tyres today, BF Goodrich G force profiler in 235 40 r18, went for a bit of a drive and they drive really well (little bit of noise at freeway speed but quite sticky). picked em up for $200 ea fitted and balanced from Jax, for my needs they are ideal. My old tyres were korean specials (saava or something) lol danger beware. Why do the rear tyres wear out faster?? Hmmm the mysteries of the universe.
Michelin pilots i had a few years back on my torrie were unbelievably sticky but were very soft so spirited cornering saw their end after 10k k's.
it all comes down to personal preference and driving style, the same tyres may feel different to different drivers. Just have a read of lots of reviews and make a choice. good luck!!
Have now spoken to Michelin & appears that pilot sport 3 is a replacement for the pilot preceda, not the pilot sport 2. PS2 will remain their performance tyre. This explains the "amazing" price, PS3 half the PS2 price. Still Michelin claims the wet weather performance of the PS3 is superior to the PS2, especially braking.
Price for Goodyear F1 Asym is $330 fitted, so looks like a choice between Michelin PS3 & Faklen FK452, $240 for the Michelin & $175 for the Falken.
