ive just installed a new level 2 cluster in my vp because the circuit board was buggered on my old one and now ive changed it my check engine light comes on about 30 seconds after the car is started? the car has plenty of oil and water but beyond that the only thing i can think of is i have a faulty oil pressure switch that blows fuel pump fuses whenever the plug is plugged in to the oil pressure switch so until i replace the switch its permanently unplugged! could this be triggering the check engine light?
yes it will.
How the hell would a oil pressure sender blow a fuel pump fuse.....I think you have worse things to worry about...
The oil pressure sender is an auxilliary switch for the fuel pump circuit.
What fault code?
yeah i was told by an old guy who was a race car mechanic (drag) that they were made like this so if your pressure was out they were designed to cut out the fuel pump to try to avoid damages or something! cant remember exactly what he said coz every time i go see him we end up hittin the turps while doin somethin in his shed and almost every old car part we find seems to have a story behind it! lol. hes cool but, hes helped me out a lot! although i dont trouble him unless its necessary! i dont want him to think im just mates with him coz i need something! and if i do trouble him i like to have some suggestions at least! how would i find out the fault code? do i need one of those diagnostic cables and/or to download some program to test it?
hey and wraith not being smart or anything! just a bit curious what makes your car a semi bt1? i was told the only thing that separates a dog sled from an every day sled was a special performance chip, wiring and numbers! and i was also told that the chips were supposed to have been removed and replaced with stock once the sled was retired from service?
and i dont know how anyone could live with the thought that people like dennis ferguson (may he burn in hell) and the likes may have travelled in the back seat!!! id have to burn it if i ever found out something like that! (not joking)!!!
Haha I call it my semi BT1 for the fact it hasn't been designated a BT1 yet was in the police service and has the obvious extras such as LSD, no carpet and different ecu. Completely forgot that the oil pressure is connected to the fuel pump. Eh can't remember everything.
