Guys I searched the threads but after 30 mins not getting anywhere, I think the easiest way to solve the problem is to change the gearbox. The transmission works well except it is very slow into drive when cold. If you put it into 3rd it goes into gear pretty much straight away. Reverse is also a bit slow. The car has done over 300KMs so no complaints.
The engine also has a very bad RMS leak, very bad. It got bad very quickly, so good time to fix it when the gearbox is being removed. As you can imagine this car is not worth a lot but is in very good order except for these two troubles. It has been a great workhorse (wagon) and has more than earned it keep. The engine still runs very well and has had the rod bearing changed 5 years ago.
So any suggestions? Anybody got a good gearbox? What models of gearbox will fit this early 90 model? Really need your help quickly as I have some urgent jobs to do. In am in Sydney BTW.
Thanks
Greg
if it goes through all the gears including over drive the box is fine. if it hasent been serviced in a while (change filter and fluid) then it may be slow geting into gear when cold. Whats it like when warm?
ive got a good vp box in melb...
