Guys is there any differance between manual and auto dfi plates as I have replaced mine today as it shit its self and the engine light stays on now personally I dont think its the right plate as it also has all the pins on the connector where as my old one had a pin missing. The car is a manual vp
There's no diff. betwen auto. and manual.
Do you know what car tne replacement is off? VR- have an extra pin for the cam signal at 'F' but it shouldn't make any difference.
What is the fault code(s) throwing the CEL?
What, exactly, was wrong with the old DFI?
stupid question time! what is the dfi plate?
Yeah I didnt think there was a differance so the bastards at holden gave me the wrong plate return it tomorrow and get the right one. The dfi plate is the plate between your coil packs and and mounting plate its job is to issue a current to the coil packs at the right time for the coil to increase the current to mega volts (dont know the voltage of holden coil packs) at the right time for the cylinder to fire. simple terms it distributes the spark to the cylinders. Mine was that hot you could not touch it which is a sure sign that it is shorting out and the car would cut out when hot and backfire badly as there is no spark and fuel just getting pumped straight through
cool thanks mate i thought that may have been what yous were on about but was never sure of what it was called or what its purpose was!!! cheers
