    Default VN Antenna

after reading around a bit I'm starting to think the reason my UP and DOWN antenna buttons in my VN arent working is because they arent connected to the HU. (since its an aftermarket)

Is this right? and if so, which wires can i if possible connect together to allow this function to work again?

At the moment the antenna just stays up, doesn't go down when the car is off.

    thanks

Oh BTW is a pioneer HU in the case of wiring colours

I dont actually know anyone who has them working, make sure the airel is a motorized one first as they are expensive so most people just replace them with a normal one if it is electric it should operate with the h/u ie radio on anntena goes up cd on, goes down well mine does. switches dont do jack shit

i believe the vn's had an issue with these buttons running an aftermarket antenna, but the genuine ones work fine. and the problem was resolved in the vp series (just what ive heard)

If it's an aftermarket aerial the buttons won't work however you can still wire it up to go down when the radio is off and you're playing CD's, etc

You should have a remote antenna wire coming off your Pioneer head unit so if you splice the blue (or blue white) wire from your headunit to the yellow/red wire from your cars radio loom it should work (kudos to Holdenboy for helping me with this)

Also if you can source a spare antenna module try switching that as mine wasn't working correctly, changed the module over and back to new condition
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

There should be two remote wires. One for an amp - which is +12v whenever the H/U is on, and an aerial remote line, which is +12v only when the H/U is set to 'Tuner'
