    Default Trans slipping, no power?

i bought a vn berlina v6 1990, and when i started driving it i noticed it had no guts at all, its got 88,000k's 2 1/2 stainless steel exhaust. and i mean gutless as when i put my foot down at 60 it takes 3-5 secs to get to 70...

i have also noticed the trans slipping when changing gears, or when i accelerate hard at about 50-60 it revs out then gets in gear.

i will be taking it to a mechanic eventually, but thought id see what the JC community has to offer.

    cheers

You could do worse than get a trans service $100 - $150 at a tranny specialist they'll change filters and fluid, do the adjustments correctly and tell you what else needs fixing if that don't sort it. Finding the exact problem is worth the $$ IMHO saves you spending on the wrong thing and maybe fluid is stuffed or adjustments are out is all that's wrong.

As a starting point I personally would check/replace the tps sensor (the sensor connected to the underside of the throttle body) and make sure the kickdown cable is adjusted correctly. And then perform a basic trans service on it. Just my 2 cents, good luck buddy

Actually what 'warranty void' said probably makes more sense lol I didn't read it very well the first time. As he said go to a tranny specialist and get it looked at there
