pull the voltage regulator out the back of the alternator and see what the brushes look like, they may be worn down to low. New brushes are only $5 and take 15 mins to solder on. or you can buy a whole new regulator for $50ish. If you have got a multimeter put it on the battery when the engine is running, should be making roughly 13.5-14v at idle if its below 13v then its a charging issue which will more than likely be worn brushes.

Is the alternator light on the dash illuminated? Check the battery voltage with the motor running it should be around 14 volts if the alternator is charging.

Check all your connections and try another alternator. If the alternator is not charging the dash light should be on unless the globe in it is busted?

Could be a bad battery, might need a new one if it's just not holding or gaining a charge.
You alternator should be putting out somewhere between 13 - 14 volts, I think that's what it's meant to be anyway.
Could also be that the regulator on the back of the alternator is no good.
An auto electrician would be able to sort it out for you.
    hope this helps.

Check the fusible link between the alternator and the battery, its near the terminal.

Disconnect it and see it you can get continuity on it.

Same thing happened to my car and I replaced the alternator with no results.

I spent $200 on a brand new Bosch alternator when all it needed was a $20 fix at the auto electricians.

    Have a read of this:

Replaced alternator in VP 5 litre but battery light still on
