Default Seperating motor and trans 5L

Hi guys i have a VP 5L motor and trans in my garage and i'm trying to seperate them from each other. Now i Have taken all the bolts out etc and have wriggled it so there is about a 10-20mm gap each side, but thats as far as it wants to go. I was thinking of getting a pry bar but i don't know how hard i can force it i don't want to do any damage.

Can someone give me some advice? Cheers!

If it's come that far then it will come fully apart. If it's an automatic, unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate and slide it towards the auto (about 2 inches) otherwise you'll end up with a red swimming pool when they come apart.
