Default VE SS brakes on a VN S

aight so here's the deal. i know a dude who bought a brand new VE SS to make into a race car (targa nz tas wa (HDT) the brakes on that car did oh i'd say <100km. they are sitting at the workshop because that car now has 8 piston HDT brakes on it (from a lambo)
the calipers and rotors are just siting there!

i have a VN v6, im thinkin' all i need to do is make an adapter (VN to VE) im an apprentice fitter and turner so it isn't gonna be that hard. hopefully if i get VT hubs the VE rotors should bolt on, if not i feel some machining coming on. so VN struts, VT hubs, VE rotors/calipers. do u boys recon this will work ?

yes i know it is a long shot !
    check out my pics!

well places like better brakes and brakes plus make a big brake upgrade kits (330mm) im pretty sure all you need is the hub and that about it (apart from rotors, pads, calipers) but you have to make sure the hubs you get are engineered or the boys in blue my have a go. you may also want to consider upgrading the brake master cylinder as it will feel spongy (it will stop better but will just feel a lil worse)

theres also been some info that i head that the k frame can get ripped out if you brake to hard as the brakes are too 'good' for that type of car.

    hope that helps mate

Ve and VT brakes are different ---- my VE brakes have the 5 holes to suit the VE wheel and 5 holes to fit the Vn-vz wheel stud pattern. They are out ever so slighlty.... u wil need hub adapters to change the way ur hub works, then the disc slides on... the calipers are a straight fit - just remember the ve brake caliper sits on teh back of the disc so the bleed nipple needs to be at the top - on the vn vp vr vs the calipers are on the front...

oh by the way i never had to upgrade my booster and master - mine were v8 ones so not sure if they bigger anyway but i doubt it - but the brakes feel fine.. and work a treat - an awesome upgrade... prob for more info pm not_an_abba_fan as he is the distributor i bought mine off

The only change the V8 had was a slightly larger rotor and finned calipers. The pads are the same.

The VE rotor will not fit the earlier stud pattern as the VE wheel studs are larger and the centre hole is smaller.

I do the RDA brake upgrade for $785 for the VN. Comes with hubs, hoses, special curve slotted rotors, calipers, pads, mounting brackets and bolts and brake fluid. They come in 298mm or 322mm.
