Ive got a VP v6 sII executive owned for a year and this problem has only recently came up.
passed 3 morning when i have started the car it starts straight away but runs extremely rough amost asif its running on a couple of cylinders. if i let the revs drop the car will stall and engine light pops up. after the car has warmed up(about 3 mns) or by the time i start after stall the engine light goes away and car will run flawlessly for the rest of the day.
Any ideas?
rich running maybe due to fuel pressure reg leaking thru the vacum line and flooding the manifold or the ECT sensor out of range till warm . injectors dribbling over night flooding the manifold , check vacum supply line for wetness or signs of petrol , try disconnecting the vacum line the night before .
Check your spark plug leads. I had a bad lead on my VN and it sometimes idled rough when first started. Also check your charcoal cannister its only meant to purge into the engine once the engine is warm and being driven if the valves or whatever controls the purge is not working it may be sucking vapour from the cannister on a cold engine.
i think it is igniton related
it could be a fuel prob but doubt it as my vp used to do the same thing (it made it's way to a better place)
a coil pack might be just about out of life
only way to see for sure is to disconect the vac line then smell the intake in the morning but i dont think it is fuel
I'll check vac line in the morning.....
as for the leads and spark plugs i changed them about 6 months ago, only had a quick inspection will give a decent look at 2moz. also i should point out that it only happens 1st thing in the morning. i could turn of/start car all day long driving short distances and all is fine after morning warm-up.
will check charcoal cannister also get back soon!
Thanks for the replys
