Engine Swap V6 S2 motor.

Hi guys I'm just after a little help here and know you guys would know. I'm looking to do an engine swap on my very tired(450K+kms) VG ute. It's a V6 S2 motor with manual trans and I'll just be swapping to another S2 V6 motor so nothing too fancy or difficult. My question is do I need to find an engine out of a manual or are the auto and manual engines interchangable? I seem to remember in the S1 motors they weren't, something to do with different cranks I think. Would I be correct in vaguely remembering this? Are there any problems I'm likely to encounter doing a straight swap like this. The friend that is doing it for me is experienced in building engines etc and has done many an engine swap but hasn't had any real experience with these V6 engines.

From memory the "S2" engine has the same crank whether it's an auto or manual so you should not have any problems doing a straight swap.
