Hi i have a VH commodore with a VN series 1 motor. I was wondering why it makes a ticking noise , when i rev the car a little the ticking increase's
here are some pics of where i think its coming from.
heres just a general overview look of my engine
Srry about the pics being big they are from my phone
lifter or injector from where you circled more likely injector
Fuel injectors noisy or noisy valve train/hydraulic lifters. If it's running fine just get an engine blanket for under the bonnet to muffle the sound
yeh she still runs fine ... im thinking noisey injecters .. so the ticking wont hurt? wat cause's the ticking noise gunk in the injecters or something?
it could be balence shaft bearings that is a common thing
The tick you hear is the solenoid in the injectors opening and closing thats why it increases speed with revs. You may notice after you rev it the ticking will cease or become barely noticable until it starts to idle agian. as the computer stops firing them as the fuel is not needed.
wen its idle you can here it quite badly ..
My vp v6 sounds like something is grinding in the valve train but its still going even after some wet weather manging!
my '93 vp sII (3.8 buick) makes a ticking noise as well... but its been running fine for some time now (over a year)...
pretty sure its the injectors or valves... hence when you rev it, it ticks faster ...
im not even sure how warn the engine is since i baught a vh sle it allready had a vn motor dropped in with the gear box as well and a diff from a v8 vl lol there no way to tell how many k,s shes done is there?
I would say its the injectors, put your finger on the top and feel for it and lightly rev the engine, if it is a lifter there abit louder and not so much of a high tick noise change the injectors or the rail and see if it eliminates it, but its not a big problem untill one goes and then you just replace them anyway.
