VP v6 sII executive
gday, i want to get some opinions on what i should do with my car.
Owned for 1 year+ 222xxx Kms and everything is starting to shit itself!
Passed few mornings it realy struggles high revs and conks out engine light comes up untill the car warms up, engine light disapears then seems to be fine for the rest of the day.(still got no idea what this is)
Also this morning got up to a nice puddle of power stearing fluid, i believe pump is gone.
Mounts also need replacing.
due for service.
Gets to the point were to fix it i may be better off cutting my losses and get rid of this car and purchase another.Or should i fix and possibly be able to get some more Kms out of it.
What do you think?

It depends on the cars overall condition, how much the repairs will cost against how much your prepsred to spend on another car, which if 2nd hand will probably have it's own problems you will have to fix.
I had a similar scenario a few years back. I had a VN Vacationer which was immaculate, it needed a new exhaust, flex plate, aircon just broke, tyres 95% worn out and the front end was going to need some work as it was a bit loose and rattly even after new bearing plates, rack end...
Car was worth about $1500 at most and the cost of all those parts and repairs was the same as it's value so I went and got a VY V6 and haven't looked back.
So I'd say cost the repairs, decide if you can fix the things yourself with good second hand parts and take into account how good your VN is otherwise ie paint condition, interior, rust etc. Also consider that if you spend a heap on it you will need to keep it for a while to make it worht the cost, there is no point spending hundreds if not close to $1,000 on a VN and selling it 6 months later for the same money you spent on repairs.

sell it don't waste your time and money.

Depends on how often the thing needs fixing, my first car was horrible for that, literally every weekend I had to spend more money fixing it. It finally died for the third time so I gave it to the wreckers for $50, Lost probably $1500 at least. Applied for a loan and bought a decent second hand car from a dealer. Only had 2 minor problems in 7 years. And they only took me a few hours to fix.
If you are only going to buy another older car then there isn't much point as you will probably have to fix it again. Either keep fixing your car, or the better solution, get a newer car in decent condition.
