I got into an accident earlier with someone not giving way to me. Her car got the back end clipped, broken taillight and bumper, my VN Calais ended up with it's chassis bent at the front end.
Most of the car is still in good working order (engine is at 244,XXX, doesn't miss a beat, good cond. interior, no issues with the gearbox, etc.).
But because I'm a poor uni student, I'm not going to be able to afford to get it repaired, yet I still need a car, so do I sell the VN to the wreckers, or sell it off bit by bit, for a highly reduced price to people looking for parts?
You could probably get it repaired to a driveable level by talking to the right wreckers, have a look locally for holden wreckers that also do mechanical work. if you say to them
"I'm poor boo hoo etc I need it on the road cheap as"
you might be surprised at the price. Of course it probly won't look real flash. There's a wreckers list on the forum or say where you are and someone can probly recommend a wrecker.

I'm in Canberra. It hit the front right of the car, from memory the front of the engine bay is ~5-10cm from the fuse box, radiator beyond repair, need a new front right panel, hood's bent way out of shape.
I've got no idea whatsoever as to how much it'll cost to fix.
Plenty of wreckers in queenbeyan, fyshwick and mitchell. If your on the southside try CJ's on baldon road
If it wasn't your fault and the other insurance company is paying demand they pay for the damage the other driver caused. They are liable for all the damage the other driver caused they don't have any legal right to write your car off and pay you what they think it is worth or even what you may have it insured for. Remember your not bound by any offtheir terms and conditions. Might be a problem if you claim through yours though.
