Hi all, i have looked for the right post to help me but can seem to find a post to help me get a way to check that i am getting fuel delivery to the engine, Any suggestions would be great in regards to checking spark and fuel delivery on a VP COMMODORE...cheers
First is there enough fuel in the tank? Then check the Fuel pump is working (makes a whirring noise when you turn the key to ON). If that's ok then check the spark. As I recall a mechanic once told me to pull the spark plug lead off and position it near the engine block with insulated pliers, wooden sticks, or just by itself if you can and get someone to crank the engine a little. You should see a spark jump if it's working.
Word of caution, it kinda hurts if you get shocked though.
thanks for the help. will check this weekend and let you know how i go. CHEERS
to check that the coil packs and DFI is fine just pull one of the leads off the coil pack and you will see a massive spark jump from the terminal to the coil pack. my DFI died and it dident do this.
if ya not getting any spark or injector pulses it could be the crankangle senser
I had the same problem a few days ago.
The mechanic came over and gave the fuel tank a kick and it started up, he was able to drive it to the shop and fitted a new fuel pump. All up it cost me $300, after reading on here i could have done it myself for around $100 but i needed my car so didn't really have a choice.
