    Default flushing coolent easy way??

after a coolent line decided to let go yesterday while i was driving and dumping most onto the road i got the new plastic connection and fitted it i topped it up with water as i didnt have any coolent. now almost all of the coolent mix is water so i would like to flush it out and replace with coolent

i have read that you need to take off the thermostat and stuff like that, is there an easy was to just flush it out and replace with fresh coolent. is it possible to take off the bottom radiator pipe and drain it and then just hose out the radiator conect it all back and then refill with coolent with the engine running to get rid of any air in the lines ?

    any help would be great

You don't have to take thermostat housings and stuff off if your simply flushing the cooling system..

You can get stuff specifically for cleaning the crap out of your radiator and stuff... You should be able to pick some up from places like autobarn and supercheap...

All you do is (obviously follow directions on the bottle) but what I do at work (I'm amechanic) is drain your radiator via bottom radiator hose, then fill the cooling system withthis cleaning stuff, wack your radiator cap back on and run the engine for half an hour, this circulates the stuff through everything. Thenafter that switch it off and drain it, then do the same with water. After that, simply fill it with fresh coolant and your app ready to go.

Easy as. The only reason to take the thermostat housing off is to replace thethermostat itself.

    Hope this helps

hope the thermostat has not melted or warped under higher heat than normal if your engine got a little hot - for $10bucks you can change the thermostat and seal and do a good flush - for the price i would change for peace of mind, you can add $$$$ to your fuel bill if the thermostat not working properly
