I've spotted a modified ECU Chip and AIT (Air Intake Sensor) on eBay that both claim to add in between 15 and 20 hp each to my vn simply by adding them to the ECU and replacing the stock AIT sensor with the modified one, now theyre both 20 bux a pop which is surprising for the amount of power it claims to add... has anyone bought these items off eBay before or does anyone know if what these items are claiming to do is true, like i know i cant go wrong for them both being 20 bux each but id rather know before i buy, does anyone know if they actually work?

Its probably because everyone is trying very very hard to bite their tongues lest they let rip. They claim 20+hp for $20, what do you think? Considering that it cost about $5000 to make an extra 150hp (depending on many many things) with a supercharger or turbo for your engine, and charging a motor is probably one of the best power makers for the price.

yeah but i dont wanna dodge it just because it is cheap, maybe they couldnt hock it at a higher price cause no one would go for it, i would believe the AIT sensor cause it states that the stock sensor tells the ECU that your engine is running hotter then it actually is, not allowing as much air as it could to the fuel and this modified sensor tells the ECU what the temp actually is so it allows more air to fuel letting loose more power but using more fuel as well...? im just doubtful on the ECU chip only cause it says it will suit seperate makes of cars which i find hard to believe cause it cost anywhere from $500-$1000 to have your ECU tuned properly and all ECUs are different, why would there be one chip to suit all for 20 bux if other people are goin and payin that much?

Didn't think that VN's had an AIT sensor.... Yeah it's useless mate don't waste your time. What next?? A hiclone?
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
its not cause its cheap its cause there just shit...that iat sensor just tricks ya computer to think the temps different to what it is so adjusts shit to make it a bit quicker but good chance its damaging ya motor too. no ones prob reply'd cause heaps of people ask about the same thing (search ebay resistor) .... i got one years ago and makes stuff all difference, i used to swap from ebay sensor to factory one and cant pick the difference between them,,,,,,,,,, prob get more power out of changing ya airfilter or taking out ya spare wheel... just save ya $40
and if its the one im thinking of- the $20 ecu memcals are a pain, ya have to solder the emprom to you chip.... better 1 off getting someone who's trusted of here to do you a chip, delcowiz or someone and just plug it in and go.......
The factory sensor tells the ECU the correct temperature. Also the ECU doesn't control the air, it controls the fuel, the throttle determines the air going into the engine. The ECU knows how much air is going into it by using a MAP or MAF sensor, as well as the air temp sensor, and adds the right mix of fuel.

Except the VN to VR doesn't have an air temp sensor...... Yeah as said PM delco or even the site sponsor Mace. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Edit:
Sorry am half asleep. They do have the sensor it's in the back of the inlet manifold. Can't be good all the time right.
Here's a link to another similiar thread. Doctor Bob shot that thread down pretty quick and he's the man in the know when it comes to tuning.

Its just a 5c resistor that tricks the ECU into thinking the air entering the motor is cooler and in turn dumps more fuel in. More fuel is good but in this case its running rich. With more fuel you need more air. Since you cant give it more air, you'll loose power

fair enough, so itd be like its drowning it, see im use to turning a screw on the carbie, pulling the throttle then listening for that seet, smoooooth purr of a nice running engine, then adjusting the idol speed, but noooooo its all computerised crap these days
sorry i shouldnt say crap, they do have their good sides but they take the fun out of keeping your car running nicely, its all done by ecu and if it decides its got the shits then everything else shits itself haha
