Default Problems with new Boss Kit... Help??

i just got a secondhand boss kit for my vn and i was just putting it on and it got really tight about half a cm from the copper rod and heard a metal fracturing noise so i took the nut back off and checked for thread damage but nothing, should i just keep tightening or what...? any suggestions

well ive looked around and their is nothing obvious, also their is no reason for anything to fracture, its tight but it keeps going down the thread... one thing i did notice but underneath the washer that sits between the boss and the nut there was like a ground out line, and metal shavings inside it...
? could it have been that that i heard, and should i leave that spring behind it in or take it out?

Your not meant to do it up very tight maybe just couple of turns after finger tight if that, you may have damaged the steeing column these cars have a colapsable steering column for when you hit it in a collision. And are you sure its the right boss for the car and were all the little bits included?

I'd have to wonder if it is the right kit, a boss kit should go on easily without force.
