hey guys just wondering if a steering rack out of a VR 1994 will fit a VP 1992?
also does it matter if its v6,v8 auto or manual?
cheers guys
I believe it should fit fine. Will need a wheel alignment though, cause of the different track
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

Just check to make sure the actual rack gear and rack ends (tie rods) are the same length in a VR rack to a VP rack.
VR's I think have a wider front track.
you are right, i have found that the front track is wider, you can change the rack ends over to make it fit but the gearing inside the rack is set up to suit the wider front track.
i found this out by attempting to fit a vn rack into a vr. the rack ends were too short so i had to swap them over and then on the road test the turning circle was shit and i was hitting lock in the rack before i would hit the lock stops on the steering knukles
I am pretty sure that the length of a steering rack gear is the problem your having there. It's length should pretty much be the same as the distance between the lower arm inner pivots. I remember reading this somewhere on a web site that supplied modified steerign racks for Torana's and rack and pinion conversions for older Holdens with a steering box.
lucky i didnt buy it yet :P
that photo would be cool mate if ya can find it.
cheers
