Default f##K - just what you f##ken need

ok - just changed front brake pads - scooped out old brake fluid (so no air got in).......

done drivers side - g-clamp brake back, unbolted piston - cleaned the guide pins and applied high temp brake grease---------reassemble with new pads......

change to passenger side and repeated the process.............topped up fluid and depressed brake till i felt grabbed then made sure level was right........

road test time and bead in new brakes.................then i notice and felt the car labouring and like brake drag.............got home i was only like 400m from home, jacked up on passenger side to investigate.....

what im finding is the brake is locking on,,,,,give hit with hammer and release's -----tried pumping brakes then winding calliper back with g-clamp to see if i could make it work ------

now i am thinking that because of the different resting position of the calliper as the new brakes are in, that maybe the piston is sticking of a rough patch inside the housing ?????

has anyone had a similar problem or any suggestions !!!! the other problem is i live in the sticks a bit and only have on car also.....cannot get parts so easily fu#k fu#k fu#k

guide pins are ok, but if the seals have gone - do the lot i say !

we are talking about the inner bore one on the brake calliper ?

Rang up Repco as that is the only store local to me (supercheap always have to order in parts) - $30nz for a repair kit each side

well after doing my guide pins and replacing all rubbers - bleeding and 5 boxs of stella artois over a few nights, i was getting fustrated at the brakes still locking on..........

then finally i noticed - where the housing that pushes the spring's down the pad's, its pitted and right where a set of new pads would be and stopping the pads release as the spring is jamming in the groves...........

out with the small grinder and what do you know ??? - all brakes working fine !!!

It would seem that you are not a very accomplished/qualified mechanic. I suggest that you have your car checked by a brake specialist to ensure that it is safe to drive on a road. Despite the new pads you've installed, related problems may lead to total brake failure. Whataya gonna do then - faced with caused death, manner dangerous etc.

Wait, you took a grinder to your brakes?? Ummm, don't do that.

well actually - had a mechanic take a look and suggest just making the guide where the springs on the pads run smooth again - simply fix - not rocket science............hey after 460,000kms you too would be showing signs of crack-age............

does every one know where i ground smooth or just jumping to conclusion here

if anything, all i have done is made about0 .7mm of spring tension less by making smooth again for them to glide back and fro on.....simple and safe fix
