hi guys, im getting a constant squeaking sound when i turn on my VN series 2, it sounds like its coming from that rotating blade part at the front of the engine which is rotating really really fast, or at least one of the rotating parts on the belt (sorry my knowledge is extremely basic!)...
i think i am due an oil change/ transmisson oil change, is probably a few thousand kms overdue, could this have anything to do with it??
oh and it seems to be rattling an awful lot more these days too....but mainly the squeaking...
any ideas appreciated
thanks
i can probably put money on this, but almost certain it will be your water pump. Try taking off your belt and spinning all your pulleys, I bet your water pump will be loose and the inner bearing is shot, the noise is the pump slowly eating metal, mmm nom nom nom
Try the harmonic balancer too, the pulley right at the bottom of the engine. If there's bits of rubber coming apart inside it then you should look at replacing it asap, just another thought...... good luck mate
sorry can i get some details about changing the harmonic balancer as i have very basic knowledge, a dummies step by step would be much appreciated!!
hi guys,
i took of my drive belt but the water pump pulley isnt really obviously loose in any way, the harmonic balancer seems a little loose and the rubber on the outside seems like its getting old....but not coming off yet..
is it possible to change harmonic balancer DIY job? is it an urgent thing????
