So I tried putting LED's into my dash. A bit dim, and bright spots on the speedo however the tachometer only seems to light up sometimes.
Thought it could be the bulb - as there was one dud in the pack. But when I changed the bulb the issue was the same in the tacho. It seems to come on and off sometimes over bumps, other times for seemingly no reason at all - when I was testing them I was parked it wouldn't come on at all.
Thinking it could be the connector thing I swapped that with another lights and no change.
So I swapped back to the old bulbs and the tacho light works perfectly now.
Any Ideas different in the LED that causes it to lose power sometimes?
I want to keep the LED's in - after all its the little things that make the car, but I wont use them if theyre not always going to work lol
Obviously you have a wiring problem.
In regards to the LED's, did you file off the domes on the end of them? The dome focuses light, by filing them off it spreads the beam out further giving you more spread of light.
Yea I thought it was just a loose connection but it doesn't happen with the light bulbs which is what stumped me and thought maybe someone had come across the same random issue...
can you take off the domes? I know nothing about LEDs. So they don't burn out in the air like a normal bulb would?
No the actual light part is further down. You just need to take the domes off.
