I have just rebuilt my VN S1 engine. After many problems and having to take the engine in and out several times i finally got it all working. he last time i took it out i left one of the plugs connected to the gear box, not the one at the back that screws on but a yellow one with 4 prongs and clips in. That plug has been damaged and consequently is not connected. I also left the gear stick arm connected and may have damaged it some how because it is now a little loose. Im assuming this may be the problem. When i start the car it starts in drive and then when i change gear it does not respond in any way. I can hear the click when i change gears but that's it. Any ideas on what it is and how i can go about fixing it.
A visit to the wreckers and then change out the plug would seem to be the obvious fix.

went to the wreckers today, they will get the plug of the car for me tomorrow. I just wanted to know if it was just the plug that will cause the car to stay in gear or if i have done some internal damage. I can't see a plug being responsible for it staying in gear thats all
