Can anyone let me know how i can change my front rotors on my VN. They are not like the VS which is alot easyer.
Thanks
Or if i can put a complete strut, hub swap from a VS onto the VN?
You need to remove the dust cap, split pin and castellated nut that holds the hub on, along with the bearings. When installing the new rotors make sure you correctly set the bearing preload, you should also at least repack the bearings if not replace them.
awesome thanks for that.
yeah its really simple, make sure you dont drop the wheel bearing on the dusty floor like i did, could use new ones now :-(
you have to make sure you tighten the catsleated nut to the right torque and dont use wire as a split pin go buy some
It's not torqued up you do them up until the play is gone then back them off one indent. There may be a slight amount of play but it's better than being overtight as they will overheat. New bearings need to be packed as well. Do you know how to properly pack a bearing so you get th egrease all the way through?
Also you need to remove the brake calipers first off.
Best to clean the bearings in petrol and then regrease them. Buy some wheel bearing grease and knead the grease into all the gaps. Easy, I just changed mine over yesterday and replaced the steering rack today. When you take the breaks off you will need a clamp of some kind like a Gclamp to press the caliper back in.hope this helped. Also you don't torque the castle nuts. Wortus knows where it's at.
