Just ran out of petrol

I just ran out of petrol about 100 metres short of a petrol station and the most I could put in my 80 litre tank was 65 litres. And yes i'm sure its a 80 litre tank, as it was much bigger than the 63 litre that was originally in my car.

So something tells me, that maybe the pickup isn't where it should be. Now there is a good for the coming weekend.

One issue i have with VS and earlier commodores is that fuel light and beeps come on when car is about to run out of petrol, not when there is still 50klm's left in tank. also my VS seems very much dependant on angle car is on as to use the last 10/15 litres. have run out of petrol 20k's out of Coonabarabran knowing that there was still 10 litres or so in tank. (was parked at red sign at roadworks facing uphill), pushed it so that back of car was higher than front and away it went. after changing fuel pump I must have bent the arm or something cause now I seem to even have less usable litres in tank. anyone else had such an experience?

My Vt fuel light comes on at 60km left. and when it gets to 0km left i easy get at least 40km from it n it still wasnt empty but i wasnt game to push it any further lol

Yeah my guage sits on bottom line with still 10 litres left, which should be another least 60km. But I am not gained enought to go that bit extra further. Considering by the time I get to 420km with 10 litres left, this is around town driving. I am happy with that.

i think i did not excercise enough care when changing fuel pump and maybe bent the float arm for the fuel sender unit. as you say, these are delicate and dodgy in design.

well my vp runs out of fuel when i get to 1/4 of a tank i ran out a few times then blew up my fuel pump bugger to install a new one

exactly wat im sayin.. dont go on ur guage.. fill ur car up untill u cant fit any more.. run it to nothin.. clock the amount of kms.. and there ya go!
