Question VN rear resonator swap for roadworthy

Bit about the car: Okay so i just picked up my 89 VN exec yesterday, no rego no roadie. the cars a piece of shit but i need something to get me around for the time being, as far as the roadie goes i should only need to swap the rear resonator, front tyres and fix the boot lock.

Problem: Went to fix the resonator today, picked 1 up from "pick a part" for $35, spent a good 3 hours cutting it off with a screwdriver/hammer lol, seems to be in good nick (alot of shit in it, can hear it when i shake it around) is that expected from a 2nd hand resi? or should i look for another?

also is there any EASY ways of getting the old resonator off my car? i have limited space and dont want to ruin anything in the process.

once you have the clamp off, start twisting the join side to side to free it up, Should work itsself apart from there.

twist it how exactly? theres a diff in the way with very little room to grab onto it let alone twist it... im having a major headache with this thing, i literally had to snap the entire exhaust in half just to get the new resonator, now getting the old 1 off my car is even harder

Passengers side rear tire off, undo clamp, undo the hanger on the middle muffler, spray rust off or crc all over the join. Then get a friend to hold the tip of the exhaust (by rear bumper) while you push the join left to right to rotate the join a bit. It should slowly work itsself apart this way.

lol oh well that wont work cos the rear resonator has snapped off from the pipe leading to the join anyway, reason why i had to change it, guess ill just get the angle grinder to it?

Might be worth your while to get a picture up to help explain your problem.

What was the original problem, no rear resonator? I don't understand....

It's highly unlikely you will get knocked back for not having a rear resonator. I took a VP in twice, 2 different states, and had no issues each time, with just a single centre muffler, and straight piping.

In other words i was missing both a resonator, and a rear muffler, and no one said a thing.....

sorry i can't do pics, the original problem was the resonator was breaking away from the pipe that leads to join the middle muffler, this was causing a loud rattling/drone under the car as well as making the back of the car black from the exhaust fumes. While trying to twist it, the resonator snapped from the pipe so now i have a length of pipe stuck to the middle muffler and i cant get it off.

do you still have the bend that goes over the diff? Because that should come off in the way i described.

And I take it you got the bend over the diff with your new resi, right?
