Default Just a few quick questions.

Hey all, i have a vg ute and i have a couple of questions about it and maybe some jobs .

How much is it to recondition a series 2 motor, and would it just be worth finding a wrecked 5l and stealing its gearbox loom and engine bay basically and converting? costs?

also, if i can source an entire ve interior, would all the new leather sets etc fit into my car?
or could i just get a new dash from say a vy and the coil and wiring for it and slot it in?

also does anyone around the perth area have a puller, as ive been quoted 100-150 bucks to put a bloody pulley in lol, i already have the part >.>

also does anyone have any extractors that would fit a v6 3.8l series 2? and maybe an exhaust. whatevs Cheers fellas

i spose the question more should be..
    1) what is in your car - v6 or v8 rebuilds could be up around the 4 - 4500 mark a lot less for a say goin to a wreckers and getting something without warranty
    2) 5ltrs with all the gearbox and wiring etc are pretty cheap on ebay.... taking a risk... but scope em out.
    3) ve seats and interior would take some modification to the rails etc.... im gunna go with NO unless ur handy with modifications on a big scale'
4)dash from a vy wont fit without massive modification....
5)and as for a puller, im assuming for he harmonic ballancer, supercheap have em not that expensive.... but u MIGHT get lucky and might not need one... ive had one hard one and one easy one.

handy with modifications i am, but what sort of modifications are we talking about, i can make my own rails but what im mostly worried about is the fact that will the actual ve interior fit?
    and 4500 for a rebuild for a v6 ? ouch.
is there any sweet wreckers around that dont instantly shank the v8 wiring loom and sell it off for 1000 bucks around perth? so i could just basically take the drive train.
or does anyone know of any like commodore places or just any dealers in general who make custom dashes or anything like that in perth? im intending to respray it red and get the interior done with like yellow door trims and green handles and stuff i saw in a thread once, i thought it was pretty nifty.
and im talking about the idler pulley, apparently you need some sort of tool to take it out and as im no good with mechanic bit, only welding fabrication and electrical i have nfi lol

Nah the idler pulley and tensioner should come off as one unit.
