    Default Instrument Connector #1 PITA

    Howdy all

Trying to install cruise control in the wagz and everything was smooth sailing until I came across Instrument Connector #1

The wires don't seem to be long enough to get to the back of the connector and where it is placed there isn't anywhere to put a hand or anything through behind it

Have pulled the centre console out to try and get some more length but the wires just aren't long enough

Bloody annoying as it's just the one white wire to connect into the back of this and I'm done

Anyone else have any hints or tips before I put it in the too hard basket for today ?

The white and green wire are a lug into the back of the dash connectors.

Yep, connector 3 was easy to clip the green wire into (plenty of wire length) but I can't even get #1 out far enough to remove the anti back out comb to take the lug that's in there out to put the white one in

Is it possible the wires going to #1 are taped up with the loom and pulling some of the tape off will hopefully reveal enough wire to remove the comb and lug ?

Tried to gently pull the wrapped loom through a bit but still not enough to be able to do anything

Your loom must be pinned some how. Normally you can pull enough wire through to get the pins out.

How about going out the back of the dash? You would have most of the plastic bits out already to gain access to the plug.

Aah, so just remove the orange surround and pull the plug back through (is it just the two clips on the sides or do I need to unclip the top and bottom as well) ?

Cheers Shane, will try that Tuesday (won't get home from work till late tomorrow) and report back

    Thanks again !!

    EDIT.....

Pulling it out the back worked a charm Shane, now just need to get a spare brake switch circlip from the wreckers and I'm all done
