    check for engine error codes.

Above the passenger footwell is a white electrical connector which you use to find error codes when the engine check light comes on.

Grab a paper clip and bridge pins number 5 & 6 the key till the ignition lights up.

If you bridged out the correct wires 'Check Engine Lamp' will be flashing and the engine fan should come on.

The flashes are grouped into 2 lots with roughly a second between each. You can decode them as follows:

The first lot of flashes is tens, eg if the 1st flash simply flashes once, this means the code is 10. After the pause of about a second, a 2nd lot of flashes will appear, if this number is 2, so the code is 12 which means everything is OK.

After each code sequence, the computer will repeat three times with about a 3 second pause between, so its smart to wait and see if you have numerous errors.
