VP, Gear Changing Issue (kickdown)

Hey,

I put in a second hand gearbox a couple of weeks ago, and am having a weird issue.

When i put my foot down (going 60 or 110) and the gearbox kicks down the gears it changes fine, however after this the kick down cable is now loose and the gear changes are very high (5000 - 6000rpm to second).

If i pull over and look at the kickdown cable it is loose, lots of slop. If i then turn the car off the cable tightens up. If i then take off again it changes normal (2000 - 3000)rpm. If i don't turn the car off the changes stay high until i do.

Has anyone encountered something like this before?

Well it's in the shop now, so will see how it goes
