96 vs wagon high klm bit fumey

hi guys, got an old vs wagon she seems a bit smelly, i mean fumes. motor seems strong but previous owner didnt give her any tlc .just done back half of exaust, adjusted all doors , can still taste it in my mouth. any one got any ideas, plugs look good in colour,must be something,what do i look at.help please::

is the 02 sensors good? might be running rich if a o2 sensor is stuck lean. Prob should post in the vs section rather than tuning.
