Hi,
2 questions.
1: How the hell do I jack my car now that I have side skirts on? i really don't think the fibreglass will take the weight of the car and there isnt anywhere i can place the jack where i would have before that isnt fibreglass now.
2: I have some ultra long threads through the reo to bolt on the bumper, and i cant fit a spanner over that let alone fit pliers in to undo it and its too tight to undo by hand.
Really f***ing pissed off nobody thinks of these things and now im stuck with a punctured tyre that cant be changed and irremovable nuts.
All I can think is remove the sideskirts and cut out 2 squares of it on the bottom at the front and rear, but id rather not remove them now as theyve been urethaned on.
As for the nut on the ridiculously long thread, God knows, maybe remove the headlight but dads being an asswipe and wont tell me how to remove it because he doesnt think i should play around with it and will probably kill me if i try.
For the first one, just find a solid looking bit of steel under the body of the car. Dont lift it by the floor pan or fuel tank or you will dent it. If you want to lift it by the diff, be careful of your brake lines
CAn you post a pic of these threads on the reo bar? I cant think of what it might be, and its been a long time since I changed a front bumper.
Front tyre is punctured and I cant think of anything to jack it from :|
its an aftermarket bar, basically the threads go thru the reo whcih are fibreglassed to my bumper, and im trying to undo these nuts, and the threads about 5cm long. Dad reckons a box spanner, but he doesnt understand theres such limited room under there, i can barely get my hand in, let alone a spanner. Doesn't help the tyre is flat on the side the nut needs to be removed and that the bumper is maybe sitting 7cm off the ground as it is.
The one on the opposite side was a little loose so i got it off just using my fingers and spinning it a trillion times to get it off those ridiculous threads.
Thanks for your help though![]()
you could take the reo off the chassis rails. to bolts on each sides. can be a bitch to get it lined up when it goes back on.
jacking it up, you could use the diff centre at the back, or the k frame (BUT NOT THE SUMP) at the front.
this assumes you have a trolley jack, it'd be lots easier than using the crank jack that the car came wtih.
If i could get under the car, id undo the bolts from the chassis rails to take off the reo (which is why im getting to bumper off, to raise the reo slightly and to cut the flaps off the sides of the bumper) but due to the flat tyre, the car has such small ground clearance its a bitch even getting my arms under.
and I only have a crank jack![]()
buy a proper jack dont muck around with it, make sure it is safe
have u got the head lights out? makes the job alot easier gettin them screws in
Get a trolley jack and it sounds like all your probs will be solved, those shitty jacks that come in the car are useless, slow and pretty dam unstable
itf the car is movable try driving the wheels over a brick while u tempoarily jack it up... ?
