Default Radiator fan and AirCon Failure, Car overheating in traffic

problem with Rad Fan, tested fan for continuity, all ok, fan will move by my pushing it, no water in fan, pleanty coolant, new rad, no power coming in terminals for fan, no aircon, or aircon fan, tested all relays as ok,

Next i want to test the ECU, can anybody suggest a possible diagnosis?

Might pay to check your fuses.
The ECU enables the fan by switching the relay coil to ground.
Check your relay terminals (30 and 86) for voltage with the ignition on. If you don't have 12v check your engine cooling fan fuse (engine compartment fuse 23) and fuse 9 inside the car. If your aircon isn't working there is a good chance that it's fuse 9.

Cheked fuses 8, which is the fan fuse, not 9, and its ok, checked 23, ok, checked ALL relays both in and out, so the 4 relays on the fuse panel, and all the ones in the eng compartment, all seems to be ok, i really think it may be the ECU, i checked em by replacing with the horn relay and blasting the horn, seemed to work fine,

No the Fan inside the car doesnt work, no fan, no aircon, nothing, i turn the switch on and no air movement, and no rad fan movement either.

Interesting conundrum. Try unhooling the fan plug near your polution canister, wire up some plain old 12v wire to it and stick those wires on your battery. If the fan fires up it's ok and the issue lies with the relay.

If you keep having issues, just re-wire your fan into the fuse box onto a circuit that starts when the ignition is started ie: fuel pump. Then the fan will start as soon as the car is started just like an old clutch-fan. She'll run cool as a cucumber then. Did it to my dad's VN, works great, runs cooler than my VP.

****ing found the problem,,,, a couple of days ago i got some cutom wiring done in the car, and the ********s had cut out a wire, one that splies off to the entire no 8 fuse, so the relays were fine, and the ECU was transmitting data, i rewired the non required power windows circut to the no 8 fuse, and screw me rotten, the beast fires up fine, and the aircon is cold! fan is great! what a pissoff that was, bloody annoying, took me 6 hours straight to figure the shit out! 6 hours!

dont you hate when that happens?

I know they're not clutch fans you fool. I own one.

But if you were having overheating issues wiring the fan up to run on ignition is a reliable temporary fix to save your heads and ultimately your engine until you source the issue.

If you don't want people's advice and plan on being rude don't ask for it. And I don't give a hoot about your a/c fan. That's not a mechanical issue.

    Hey,

I actually have a similar problem to the above mentioned. My aircon doesn't work, and neither does the cooling fan. Funny thing though, when I was checking fault codes, and ignition on, the fan decided to spin then. I was curious, seeing as you found the problem, perhaps the same wire was cut in my car, and was wondering if you could please tell me which one it was?

    Cheers

if your fan spins then its not the same fault, this was a lack of power, and there is no other source for power to the fan on that circut, so you may need to really source the issue there...
