    Default Sway Bar Link Pins

Guys, my driver's side sway bar link pin decided to bend and bushes on both sides were rooted so I recently picked some new ones up and fitted them yesterday.

I got the parts from Pedders and the pin is completely different. It's about 10cm longer than the original straight pin and has a ball joint at each end which ol mate at the shop told me is the updated design and much better. There's no bushes, just a rubber boot over the pivot. Being so much longer than the original part, I had to pivot the sway bar up to fit the pin but clearance seems all good.

Each pin came with four flat washers and a black washer with a raised area which I guessed was to make the pin fit a bit more snug in the eyelet on the sway bar and control arm. I fitted the pin, used a black washer, then a flat washer and tightened the deal with the nyloc nuts that were included. Everything seems pretty well solid.

When I test drove the car there seems to be a new creaking noise. I've done speed bumps, gutters, hard braking, full lock turns etc and there doesn't seem to be a particular situation that causes the creaking. It's not a loud noise at all but I can hear it.

It has got me wondering if I have done everything right. Has anyone fitted the OEM products VN-VT HD link pin set from Pedders? Did you do it the same way or have I done something wrong?

Cheers guys. It's not a game breaker- the car handles fine and behaves like it should, I'm just curious what this creak is.

it wouldnt be the rubber parts around the straight bit of the sway bar twisted in the new position? Did you loosen those brackets off to re-position it or just pull it down?

    Just a thought...
If after installing your new stereo all you can hear is rattling, you need a louder stereo.

Yeah I didn't touch the sway bar mounting brackets. I wouldn't have thought that would be it, but I'll spend the five minutes to loosen them off, check them and retighten.

    Cheers mate.

Could zip down to where you got them from and get them to double check them? Sounds like you have it all right though. Supposedly you need to put lock tight on the threads too because I had this annoying issue of the nut always coming loose and making it rattle really bad.
