    Default Gear selector (VP)

    Hey guys..

I guess im asking a lot of questions as im waiting to get my VP book, that way I'll look in that I guess..

    HOWEVER..

I want to know if there's a way I can get my gear selector lever to stay down.. the 'tab' I guess that you lift up to move from say Park to Reverse doesn't stay down so it will cycle freely from park, thru "1" and visa versa..

    Any ideas?

there is a spring that sits between the lever inside and the top of the handle, that may have been removed or its moved out of its correct position or something. to get to it you need to take the top of the handle off by pulling it upwards at the base of the handle (if that all makes sense lol). just my guess anyways...... good luck mate

Or you can get the whole handle from a wrecker it's just held on by a nut at the bottom. You'll have to use a ring spanner to get it tho it's a bit shallow

Thru the console at the bottom of the gear selector it's all electronic so you can just replace the whole stalk and leave the switch where it is. It's hard to explain without pictures but if you take the shifter sorround off you'll see what I mean

Haha yeah, I had this suspicion for a while now. My main concern is the grip at the top of the selector comes off REAL easy, im thinking if I throw a new spring in there, it'll pop the grip off.. unless I throw some super glue in there or something

    *shrugs*

yeah thats the problem after taking them off, they wont stay on afterwards lol. i just filled a bit of the handle part with blu-tac and forced it back on to the stick and that seems to have done the job for me
