Default Auto won't shift into 3rd

Was driving fine last night then 5pm from home taking off from lights I got to about 55 to 60 and the car went to shift into 3rd but felt like it went to neutral or 1st.

I just had a brand new ecu put in and it has been driving fine up until now.. Any ideas??

If the car wont change into 3rd then the box is probably on the way out. It may be a 1 off - but from what people have reported over the years - when it wont change gears or plays up a little it's time for a rebuild or second hand unit.

Ah bad luck this same thing happened to mine about 3 weeks ago. There really is no way to tell 100%what the problem is until it's stripped down unfortunatly. If yours is a 304 like mine you're lookin at around $2000 - $2500 mark to get it rebuilt. The v6 ones are a little cheaper. In mine the 3/4 clutches were rooted, there was a bit missing, some hub thing had shattered and found out it only had half a shift kit installed the result of only dropping the pan and some plate thing was drilled to the max diametre (sorry i dont know gearbox parts). But now its all fixed up, definitly money well spent, like driving a different car.

Oh just on the ECU, being a hydraulic box the ECU plays no part in it. Probs just getting old, if you can afford to get it rebuilt just do it over a 2nd hand unit

    Burnt out clutch for 3rd gear, new g/box = $300.00 + New race built LSD = $250.00
