sorry no idea, thou - how did you win it![]()
If the new cluster (ebay win) has VN diffusers then no the warning lights wont work and will be mixed up.
Look at this thread --->> Cluster Warning Lamps
You can however fit the L2 gauges to your VP cluster.

If yours is a level 1 you will need to make 7 holes in the green backing of the cluster - the holes are in the white plastic bit already. I use a soldering iron to poke throught and then clean up with a sharp knife blade. Scrape the green coating off of the copper track (around the 7 new holes) - it scrapes off easy. While the gauges are out you can pop the voltage regulator out and solder up any cracked joints. Then you can fit the L2 gauge set and put your lens back on or swap the warning light diffusers over between the 2 clusters.
I've upgraded about 20 L1 clusters now and never had an issue. Takes about 30 mins to do.

alright well I'll rip apart the old cluster (carefully) and take a look. Nah just this thin melted film all over the dashpad where the sockets plug in, behind the cluster but all the copper wiring and green stuff seems fine. So literally just swap gauges into the VP level 1 cluster and put it all together and it should work? and nah all the gauges worked in old one but speedo needed a good smack to actually work and eventually would stop, so I need to put all the gauges in I assume. Plus I want a tacho ha.
Thats a good sign then. yes make the 7 holes in the back of the PCB and polt your gauges in. BUT while you have the gauges out re solder the voltage regulator if it has any cracks in any of the joints. I've converted heaps of VN/VP clusters this way now - all work no pronblems.

this what you mean?
and without sounding stingey, can i just use a metal skewer heated over a stove to poke the holes thru? i dont know where my soldering irons gone.
i could just replicate the back of the vn PCB couldnt I, to know where to poke the hole etc, and borrow those nuts etc?
think i finally get it :P
Your on th emoney now - photos are spot on. Yes skewer will work OK - just take care when cutting the holes out - hold the PCB flat on the case. You want to end up with a cleanish hole for the thread to pass through and still have enough for the washer and nut to make good contact. You then scrape away the gren coating to almost the edge of the darker circle - the washer is the correct size to scrape away.
Slot gauges in and connect speedo ribbon. Screw on the lens and away you go![]()

don't go pissing around with all that man, i did exactly what you did, i swapped the cards that have the pictures of the lights over and all the lights worked perfectly ever since.
too latedid it yesterday and now it works fine
took a while but was actually fun doing it.
as far as I can see, tacho works fine (idles at 1000rpm) and fuel works, I assume temp won't move much until I move the car, is there anyway to check the speedo without moving the car at all (I've got a flat tyre, and won't get a trolley jack til next week, can't use stock jack coz of sideskirts)?
oh that's strange, when i first put the VP dash in the PWR button used to light up instead of the indicator. i think that was the only difference for mine. but o well, atleast you got it![]()

^^ this photo has the VN and VP cards lined up so you can see that there is about 4 or 5 changes between the VN and VP level 2 warning lamp layout.
