The standard Commodore themostat starts opening around 90 C. I put a colder thermostat in and redid the memcal for the fan to come on sooner, but then thought perhaps there is a good reason for this seemingly high water temp.
Any ideas?
Also the engine has to run at a certain temp so it gets the best efficiency and economy with the least emissions possible.
All you can do is wait and see if you have poor economy or lose power.

Runs at high temps mostly for emissions reasons.
Thanks for all that. The car is a pure competition car and although I'm a greeny (yeah, right) and emissions are important, then I feel a lower operating temp is more important. I'll stick with it.
If it came factory with it don't you think it's for a reason?
