I put a series 1 motor with series 2 top half and didnt change any wiring wired up the same way as i undid it as far as i know realy got me stuck with whats wrong
Checked all your fuses and relays? Especially the large engine fusible link in the engine bay?
Just a thought, but is it an auto? Is it in park or neutral when you try to start?

You say the motor doesn't turn over when you turn thr key? Then there are 2 circuits ti check. 1. From the key to the start relay and 2. power from the relay to the starter.
Have someone hold their finger on the start relay while you turn the key. You should feel it click in. If that's OK then it's on the secondary side of the relay.
You have plugged in ALL the plugs around the battery area. This is where the power goes to the starter solenoid.
As said above check your inhibitor switch for the shifter.
if you have a spare wiring loom from the old engine lay it out on the ground and start from one end and go through and make sure you have connected every one . worked for me
Well i have the on out of my red vn and the origanal loom was all cut upand thanks for all the help guys

Is the battery a good one with plenty of charge?
Try connecting an earth jumper lead from the negative side of the battery to some place good on the motor/chassis and try to start it to rule out crook earth.
Swapped around some of the relays?
Is the starter connected? two wires a big red one (bolts on) and a smaller violet one (clips on i think)

if the start relay clicks when you turn to crank look at the 2 plugs by the battery that join the engine loom to the relays some models the crank wire is in a different slot
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Mate check the little black lead thats goes from the battery to the car. I have had the same problem.
Hey guys got the car working had a earthing problem and broken wire fixed that then the car startedsept then the starter motor stoped working properly
