The thermo fan in my VG V6 isn't kicking in. I found a blown relay so changed that and it's still not working. Thought fan may be the problem so changed fan to one that I know works and changed relay again and still no go. The fusible links below the relay box all look fine and I can't find any obvious broken wires etc in the area between the plug and the relay. The fuse on No 8 in the fuse box under the steering wheel is blown, actually it's melted in there so has gotten very hot, suggesting a major wiring issue in there somewhere. Consequently interior fan doesn't work. Is fuse No 8 connected to the thermo fan as well as the interior fan?
Thanks in advance
there could be a build up of corrosion somewhere down the line and there is too much resistance for the fan too work which would cause the wire to heat up. As for the thermo fan could be the temp sensor? or the same resistance problem.
In the VPV6 workshop manual it says, to test the cooling fan circuit, connect a jumper wire to the diagnostic (ALDL) connector terminals A and B.If the cooling fan now runs, the cooling fan circuit is satisfactory. It also says that if overheating is occuring, check the coolant temperature sensor. It also shows fuse 8 under the dash as the stop lamp fuse.It may be different in the VG.I dont know.
