    Default urgent response needed

hey, i am halfway through replacing my timing cover gasket and have noticed a crack in the cover, i have a series 1 vn v6 but i have a spare series 2 timing cover, i need to know if it can use this instead without using the spacer for the water pump?

any advice would be great as i need to get this car back on the road...

    thanks, mark

prolly will work i dont think there much difference just check the water inlet outlets match up.

Other temp or permant fix whack some jb weld on it no pressure there so it should stop any leaks

does anyone know what the 'thrust bearing' or spring on the end of the cam shaft does? and if its really needed? there is a raised bit on the inside of the timming cover that it sits against, and that part isnt in the series 2 cover as it doesnt have a spring there....
i really have to get this car going again so any help is appreciated.

Ahh yes totally forgot about that the cam retaining plate is actually patr of the s1 camshaft whereas S2 have one that bolts to the block.
This stop end float (backwards and forwards movement) of the camshaft.

So your pretty much up shit creek.
Either take my option 2 which is use some jb weld or silicon to seal up the crack depending on where it is will determine whether its going to work or not.
Or new option 1 find a S1 timing cover.
