Better suspension, better diff, the autos where trick for down changing (not needing to pull the button).. Yeah they got thrashed, but they also got serviced a hell of a lot better than a car u would buy from a grandpa..
Personally i feel thrashing a car early on an servicing it a lot will leave u with a tougher car than one u buy off someone that never REALLY drove it.. That way.. Anything that can be broken, has been, then fixed or improved to take the punishment

I'm pretty sure they reverse the rotation of the engine on those, apparently makes a bit more power.

They also bridged the combobulator and the flux capacitor for more gigawatts. All cop cars have this mod.

I have a BT1 that came out with the FE2s but so did a shitload of other cars. Didn't actually know what a BT1 was until I got curious to what all those little numbers on the build plate meant. Can also shift the auto up and down without having to use the lever thing on the gear selecter, but I'm pretty sure I could do that on my old VN as well and it wasn't a BT1. Engine and Trans are totally stuffed on it, definitely used and abused. Fortunately I have a new engine and box to put into it once I finish putting some niceties into it.

In the end theres nothing special about a BT1, it's just another commodore with a few extra options (maybe) and a long history of abuse and servicing (typical for a VN/P anyway).

EDIT: I believe the speedo is also different and there is a light in the dash that shines onto the cluster when the lights are off, not sure on this though so feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

I have one of the most unique ex cop cars I think. LSD. Bash plates. Police ECU, Standard fuel tank. Standard dash. Switch to turn interior lights on/off but no BT1 on the build plate. Original owner Commissioner of Police QLD

You don't drive in the back so who cares. That's the passengers problem.

Cop cars have modified suspension that allows it to do mad moves like this,
-Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
    James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994)
-Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
    P.J. O'Rourke, Civil Libertarian
-Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short Phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

hahaha LOL. I have a VT 9C1 5L i spent all day looking for this combobulator but i cant find it, and the flux capacitor seems to be broke..
But seriously, i have all the paperwork and build plates to prove i got an ex coppa, but whatever (if anything) they did to my car when they had it, they removed it before they sold it. It was in pristine condition when i took ownership, but all i was left with was holes in my center compartment, and extra plugs and wires left under my steering column and bonnet that just confuse the crap outta me when im working on it. Mind you, i have EXCELLENT fuel economy. And 2 horns, which i didnt think was a standard affair.
