Just had a lsd from a BT1 installed on my commo
Makes a bit of noise at low rev range with a bit of load under the motor - 4th doing around 70km/h
Any ideas?
jack up rear of car and put on stands then check if the noise can be heard turning wheels by hand
if hear noise FIND I|T
if not
need a hoist to run in gear at that speed and check for noise then you will know where it is comking from and can make an informed decision
my guess is bearings or plates in the diff if the noise has only just started since fitting it
was fitted only a week ago as well as a new box 2 weeks ago.. like i said its only at low rev range it makes the car vibrate but once i increase the revs its fine..
Theres no noise when hand spinning
hmm
would be checking if everything is tight shafts diff etc
else if it was a harmonic noise e.g. like a humming might be diff or unbalanced tailshaft???\
you may need to get a driveline guy to look at it in person
like a dif specialist to drive it and see what he thinks!~?
check all ur wheel nuts are tight.....you will be suprised
Hey buddy if it's a high pitched whine it's generally gear mesh noise from excessive backlash worn gears, Its a common problem it's more common to be the pinion gear bearing to be noisy which is usually more of a rough noise rather then a high pitched gear whine. Both problems need a diffoverhaul I had the same problem in my ex cop vt LSD diff also assuming they had a hard life as cop cars, cheers
I found that the issue was solved if i drove the car in 3rd til < 80km/h,
Issue now is when i take off quick there's quite an apparent noise.. i cant really describe it because its not high pitch whining or gears meshing sound
I can only describe it as a lurching noise, However it sounds like it's coming from the wheel bearing but if i put my hand back into the centre of the car while driving (on the hump) i can feel slightly more vibration then normal.
Any ideas?
if you ask me, i would be looking at the diff. If it had no noises after fitting the box, then 2 weeks later you change the diff and something weird happens 9 times out of ten it is those components. check everyting attached to the diff, mainly tailshaft bolts, i've seen similar vibes in a hilux due to tailshaft bolts coming loose. if not maybe and unfortuantly your diff is about to become more expensive.
