Default Fans temp guage and the lamp check relay

    Hey guys
This vn s1 Berlina Ive gotten had a few issues which im slowly and successfully weeding out, however this one only leaves me with 1 idea left to try tomorrow, earthing.

The temp guage and the fans dont work all (inside and out), ive checked the codes theyre coming up fine, (though when in test mode there is very small clicking/ticking noise coming from somewhere over the engines valley area, normal?) also the #8 fuse seemed to not be too happy at some stage and has melted the plastic and lightly welded the fuse in.

Anyway with all the research on here I went and ended up checking the power to the lamp check relay, with the test light on the battery neg- checking one of the points on the relay socket, the engine fan and interior fan came on.

Tested this a couple of times and it certainly seems to work, but I dont know what to do from here, swapped relays no joy, apart from checking for poor earths I cant think of anything else and I dont really know where to check for them around the panel or where I can put a new one for it.

Any help fellas this seems to be the last few issues and i have a feeling theyre all combined so im nearly there!

would check all your fuses and replace any that are suspicious FIRST then go for more rare elctrical faults

if you replace the dodgy fuse and it blows then there is likely a short to earth on that circuit which you would have to find
like a pinched wire or wire touching chassis (worn out)

Clearly I didnt mention it before but there isnt actually any power to fuse #8 at the moment, and it wasnt blown at all just lightly welded in, I havent checked if i get power at the fuse when earthing out the lamp check relay socket yet either.
There is power at the fuse in the engine bay for the fan though, #25 from memory, could be wrong.

check all fuses first man seriously if there is no power at a fuse then that circuit is faulty
fuses are not designed to melt and stay connected replace it

Checking the fuses is the first thing that should be done whenever there is any sort of fault in a car, I do thankyou for helping but seriously dude, Ive checked the fuses are ok, and fusible links, and that relays are working, looked for anywhere I could tell the wires are not connected or worn or any tell tale sign theyre stuffed.
Its not a blown fuse. And yes it would be on that circuit.
And it was the plastic on the board that melted not the fuse.
Replacing a fuse was never going to fix this problem (even though its the first thing I did), replace it as many times as i like and theres still going to be a problem.
I was hoping there was a common earthing problem on this circuit that someone would know of.

After splicing in to earth the lamp check relay and the engine fan relay the fan was on continuosly so for now the fan is on a switch and the temp guage is working, better than nothing I guess.
