Hi
I just bought a cold air intake for my VN V6 its the genuine holden one. I want to ask do i remove a rubber seal that my car has under the bonnet? Ive looked at this peice of rubber and when the bonnet is closed it seems to seal the underneath of the bonnet to the top of the rad support and my gess is that this would stop air getting into the air intake. Any help is apprecieted. Thanks
Yep, either just pull it off or cut out the section that goes down over the grill, leaving the sides.
If after installing your new stereo all you can hear is rattling, you need a louder stereo.
You might find that the bonnet is harder to close and sits up just a little higher, both my vn's have done this.
How much did it cost you mate?? - will work fine however you could have bought a MACE CAI for mid 200 buck mark...... these are much better than the holden / SS reductions CAI which have a bad habit of inhibiting proper closure of the bonnet......
Should be a piss easy install mate.
Thanks for the help.It was $70 off ebay.So will it make my bonnet sit up will it? I was thinking it would fit good being a genuine holden part.Cheers
Hi mate. Thanks for getting back to me.What is a MACE CAI ? Im new to the VN's Thanks mate.Cheers
Mace is an after market brand that make a pretty sick intake. don't worry about them you have a holden style intake. remove the rubber strip install the CAI. as instucted. You can adjust the bonnet to fit better sometimes it takes some dickin around but normally they just fit in no probs

Hi Bloodyricho.Thank you for the help.I havent got my intake yet.But after ive been told it will touch my bonnet and make the bonnet hard too close .I took my grill out and put a light in the engine bay so i could look at the clearence above the rad It seems to have a shit load of room under there on my car.Could this be because my car doesnt have the insulation under the bonnet?? Cheers Mate Thanks
just use an angle grinder and shave the corners of the cai ( given that its the VS super6 one?). thast what i did, it still hits the bonnett but the plastic now is thin enough to bend when i close the bonnet. Otherwise some people have used a heat gun to heat up the offending corners to near melting point, then slam the bonnet shut. leave for a few minutes and presto you have got a CAI moulded to fir your bonnet.
just cut 100mm hole saw in bottom of your car and stick 100mm pvc pipe in it woooohooo lol
yeah seriously what he said ^ is probably the best option, along with a K&N panel and a VS airbox if we're dealing with a 304. I've just done this with my VN 304, happy with the results although there is more to be gained from setting up the pipe to ram from the front bar properly.
