Hi all. This is my first thread so bare with me. I've got an '88 exec', v6, 5 speed wagon. I recently fitted a level 3 cluster and trip computer switch block. All modes appear to be working fine. During the week it started to beep when first taking off. Then every couple of minutes after that. NO warning light on dash anywhere. I got home and traced all wiring and it appeared that the wire from connector 4 to the computer wasn't connected properly. fixed it, started up and drove up driveway. NO beeping. Cool. Then on Thursday the tacho started to play up by only working intermittently. Belted the dash, no difference. Decided to change the coil and bingo away it went..BUT now I've got the beeping back again same as before. I've just spent half the day checking all wiring, modes and even changing the speedo sensor on the side of the gearbox but the F*%king beep is still there. I put a series 2 coil pack on the old girl. Surely that's not the problem. Any ideas or help with this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Bill.
hi mate. it beeps 7times each time. first 2 beeps- one higher pitched than the other then 5 quick beeps all the same higher pitch.
didn't leave the hand brake on? lol
haha.. nope. but tomorrow I'm going to take the cluster back out to check that the rolled over tabs in the plug slots aren't cracked or broken. a signal isn't getting through somewhere--Obviously. I even swapped computers and a third coil pack.

More than likely, it's a cracked voltage regulator causing the handbrake warning to beep. I use to have the same problem until it was replaced![]()
G'day there. By 'voltage regulator', do you mean the copper trace lines in the plastic circuit board? I reckon that's what might be doing it. I've had the cluster in and out a few times when wiring up etc. so i suspect a broken one. if so I may have to have to run a wire from the back of the loom plug to under the warning globe for the handbrake. I can't see myself getting a new blue circuit board to easily. Thanks for the replies..to all..
Ok guys. I found a thread on voltage regulators...######## me should've realised sooner what and where it was. I'll have a go at it this week ..thanks again for all replies.
