More problems with my vn v8. Going up hill it cut out then kept happening. Noticed that the tachometer was jumping a little. But also noticed when idling the external pump was quite noisey.
Now if it is a problem with the ignition system, what could it be? If it is one or both of the pumps, can I just bypass the external pump and only run a new intank pump?

the V8 run a low pressure internal and high pressure external pump so if you wanted to run a single internal pump only you would need to change it to a high pressure unit.
get a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what it says

ok worked on it all day today.
Rail is definitely getting fuel pressure coz when i loosen the clamps on the hoses fuel hisses out. Just to double check i disconnected the feed line at the external pump and when i prime it fuel well and truly pisses out. So i guess that eliminates pumps.
took my ignition module to a mates and put it on his car, starts and runs on my module fine... that one eliminated
Used his ecu and memcal on my car, stil no bingo... eliminates a problem with my ecu.
Put in a new coil, rotor button and dissy cap. Wired everything up correctly... still no fire
Put in my spare dissy that i know works fine... NOTHING!!!!!
I'm well and truly stumped on this one now! The only other thing i can think of is maybe no (or broken) power to the ecu? which would mean injectors arent firing and ignition system isnt working. I 'm not good at electrics so i'm unsure how to check this?
Has someone experienced this?
PLEASE HELP

i'm still going to suggest the use of a fuel pressure gauge. although you might be getting volume, you may not be getting enough pressure which is very important as the fuel injectors like a very specific fuel pressure, outside of that window the spray pattern turns to crap and very poor atomisation is the result
edit: just re-read your post, so now it's not running at all?
have you checked for spark after the coil using a spare spark plug earthed against the engine?
do the fuel pumps prime when the ignition is switched on? (this is controlled by the ecu and would indicate power at the ecu)

worked it out after 18 hrs of head scratching....
I had this strong feel that it wasnt the fuel system immortatlity, and i was correct.
My car used to be on LPG and after tracing thru EVERY possible trouble shooting method in the wiring manuals i found that it was something to do with the LPG wiring!
There wasnt an injector pulse in between the relay and the injectors, and i tested this with a light at the injector plug. traced the wiring from the relay, found the LPG spliced wiring and ripped it out! reconnected the wiring as from factory and BAM, it worked.
What a head fk... but hey, at least now the car has totally new ignition system parts!

LOL yes that would be a major head ####. didn't know you had had LPG. "extra" un-used wiring is always a bit suspect.
at least you got it going. now for a cold one![]()
