Hey guys ive had this problem with my car that i've been trying to chase for a while now and its starting to get the better of me. If anyone could shed some light on what may be my problem i be much appreciative.
Car in question is a 1991 vn s2 auto running on duel fuel. I have had the engine + gearbox out to replace transmission a little while ago, It ran after this but was breaking down when you put it under load either free reving or when driving, worse when driving. I tried swapping DFI/Coilpacks with another that came off a running engine (a vp i stripped for parts) and since then it hasnt started since even with the original coilpacks/dfi that were working previously. I removed the whole wiring harness from ecu to engine and check it for broken wires/continuity and it was all fine. I then cleaned every connector on the harness and reinstalled it to the vehicle, now my fuel pump wont prime up (suspect faulty pump as i installed a s/h one when the original one died) but even on gas (lpg) the car will turn over fine but only cough and splutter and not actually run and idle. I've checked all my fuses/relays in the engine bay and they all appear to be fine, even tried swapping some of the relays around to no luck either.
So were do I go from here ? can anyone offer any advice/help ? I really want to drive this car again, its been fair too long since I have.
Thanks, Craig.

did you plug the engine loom back into the dash loom under the dash
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
When I said the whole harness I only mean the one that goes from ECU and runs to the engine sensors and plugs into those 2 big plugs by the battery/fuse box area. Sorry for any confusion

make sure you plugged in the connector for the factory imobilser if it has one
it only has an aftermarket one and thats all working fine.

I know the cas's are a common problem on old engines...
2 things i will suggest...........
1. make sure ALL earths are connected... I didnt connect one once and the car ran like complete shit... found it, fixed it and it ran perfect
2. if above are all fine, usually if you pour water over your cas (if its on its way out) you should be able to start the car again.....
These are things that have happened with my car, cant garentee its the problem with yoursgl mate
Thanks for the suggestions but is there a better way then pouring water over the CAS ?
How can i determine if the fault is within the CAS or the DFI/Coilpacks ? can i test them with a multimeter?

pouring water over CAS cools it down, it won't diagnose anything if you just pour water on it when it won't start anyway
how does your fuel pump sound?
