Default VN front passanger seat broken, leans back.

hey guys, so my front passanger seat broke probably a year ago, and since i'll have to get a roadworthy soon, and i know that this won't pass, i want to fix it. so pretty much the problem is; where it bolts down to the body on the front right, the Z type shaped mount has broken off, now from what i can see, the parts that hold this little peice of steel into the bottom of the chair, WON'T come out.. so i guess im left with a few choices; replace the whole seat, grind off the bolt things holding the mount in and replace mount, or just weld the old one back together, which i'm assuming (judging by size and position, etc) probably won't hold really well, but as its just to get me a pass on the roadworthy im not real fussed, has anyone else had this issue before, or have any suggestions to what i should do?

You would only need to replace one of the rails. Anything from a vn to a vs should work as long as it's from the same side of the same seat

or just weld it up and let your passenger slam the windscreen if you have a crash and go to jail for manslaughter...

alrighty so replace the rail it is, yeah Commydoor, think i didn't think of that before when i wasn't fixing it? keeping in mind I was always the passanger eh, but anyway, its the front right mount, if it was one of the back mounts i'd be seriously concerned about that.but being the front mount, im more worried about ending up laying on the back seat eh.

You can weld the part back on if you know what your doing and have the correct electrodes. (the thing is there is lots of welding in the seat frame already) so welding the busted bit is OK - if you are a welder and have the skill to do the job right..

you should replace the rail and then have it strengthened as i think its reasonably common for the mount on these seats to break i broke both my seat mounts (passenger and driver seats) on my old vr launching off one of those flat long speedhumps.

alrighty cheers! well, i'm no welder, i would be able to find somebody to do it, but i'd rather just replace the rail, and vkcommodore6 thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like a good idea, but do you have any suggestions on how to do that? :P

just get someone to brace the thin tag section at the front of the rail with some small pieces of steel like gussets welded in

alright thanks! what if, i get a few peices of steel welded over the whole thing, then the gusset idea.. so like, i'm thinking i'd get a peice of steel, as long as the flat bit the connects to the seat rail, and drill holes in it for them bolt things, then get it welded on the bottom. and then two more peices for the rest of it, then do the gussets in the corner over them or something?
